Sept 8 Wednesday

Last night was spectacular, mild and warm, just like home before we left. We went for a long walk then settled in for some TV, e-mails and blog update....

Wednesday we woke to sun and a pleasant temperature. Got organized and departed Billings for Gardiner, Montana which is located near the boarder of Wyoming at Yellowstone Parks North Entrance. We spotted a Wal-Mart on route and took ½ hour to stock up on food, new coffee maker, wine and oil! All day we were climbing in elevation; Livingston was 4500’ and Gardiner is 5400’.

We travelled 393 miles and arrived in light rain at 2:00. The rain quickly stopped, sun came out and we headed to the Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces. What an incredible sight, all that steam and dried sulphur! We spent a couple of hours walking the boardwalks holding our noses, then went to Gardiner and checked out the stores. (Did not buy a thing)

We are staying at The Rocky Mountain RV Park, we’re on a cliff (the front of the motorhome is about 5 feet from a 30’ drop) overlooking the town, mountains and rolling fields. It is quite beautiful as we are facing the setting sun. We have booked three nights here which will give us time to tour Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park. We will probably spend Thursday night in a hotel as the Grand Tetons are 150 miles away.
Let us know how you are doing!!
Hugs
