Sept. 10, Day 10

Today we completed the Grand Loop Highway in Yellowstone Natl Park. At one point, we were up 7,800’ in snow, 38 degrees, but the road stayed clear and we were glad to be driving the car.

We left Jackson and drove to Jackson Hole Ski Resort in Teton Village, had breakfast at the Mangy Moose and got $20 gas at $3.39 a gallon. (most expensive so far) Generally the Grand Tetons where a bit disappointing. Mostly because of the poor weather, rain and low lying clouds made it impossible to see the mountains.

However, Yellowstone was a 10! We made chilly but sunny stops at the West Thumb Geyser Basin, Bridge Bay, Fishing Bridge, Lehardy Rapids, Sulphur Caldron, Mud Volcano, Upper & Lower Falls, Inspiration Point, Tower Fall, Specimen Ridge was very impressive and back into Gardiner by 5:00 and a little road weary.

Back at the Rocky Mountain RV Park an incredible site! … visit http://www.rotel.de/ …. a 40’ motor coach that can sleep 30 passengers is our neighbour. It’s a German Tour company, this time they have 24 German passengers on their travelling hotel. Every passenger works to set up the fold out sleeping compartment, outdoor kitchen and dining tables. Amazing!

This evening we discovered what appeared to be oil on the ground behind the back tire. Turned out to be a blown rear shock. We had a mechanic come this evening to the park, he confirm what we already knew and he gave us the names of people on our route tomorrow that will help us out, but most importantly he confirmed the bus is OK to drive.

Well, that’s our excitement for today. (Internet stopped working last night)

Hugs
